Steps to Take the GRE

GRE scores are required to apply to Speech@NYU because they help the NYU Steinhardt admissions team evaluate whether you are prepared for the rigorous online speech-language pathology program.

We recommend that you register for the test as soon as possible. By doing so, you’ll set a goal for yourself and ensure that you submit your scores to NYU Steinhardt in time to be considered for an upcoming cohort. We recommend taking the exam one to two months prior to your application deadline.

Register for the GRE Today

You will need to take the following steps to register for the test and have your scores sent to NYU Steinhardt.

Create an account on the Educational Testing Service (ETS) website.

Decide on your preferred Speech@NYU start date, and plan to take the GRE one to two months in advance of our final application deadline for that start date. This will allow enough time for NYU Steinhardt to receive your scores. See upcoming application deadlines.

Register for a testing date on the ETS website. There are more than 1,000 test centers available with dates offered year-round. After you have signed up for a testing date, you can reschedule for a $50 fee if you contact ETS at least four days in advance.

Determine how you will prepare and study for the GRE. The ETS website suggests a number of test preparation materials and services.

On the day of the test, request that your scores be sent to NYU Steinhardt electronically using the school code 7865 New York U Steinhardt Sch Online Blue Group.

We may be able to cover your GRE registration fees.
